About this role
Assemble and build truck-load packages by loading/unloading materials in the yard or warehouse and preparing them for safe delivery to customer job sites. The role includes applying strapping/bracing/padding, labeling items, and maintaining safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials onto/from pallets, trucks, and customer vehicles
- Build balanced, safe load packages using customer orders and vehicle capacity
- Secure loads with strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting/damage
- Read work orders and apply identifying tags/labels for correct item identification
- Follow safety procedures and clean work area/equipment
Technical Overview
Hands-on materials handling role focused on load-building accuracy: reading work orders, determining load weight and placement, and securing loads with straps/braces/padding. Uses forklift and supporting equipment (hand truck, electric dolly, power hoist) and follows safety procedures while lifting, opening containers, and labeling/tagging items.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an entry-level yard/warehouse Load Builder II with 1-2 years of hands-on materials loading and load-building experience. They must have forklift certification and be able to safely assemble load packages for truck delivery by reading work orders, applying straps/braces/padding, and labeling/tagging correctly. Strong attention to detail for counting and verifying items against lists is essential.
