About this role
The Logistics Trucking Planner (Logistics Analyst) is responsible for timely execution of logistics operations, including scheduling, expediting, and completing carrier claims for LTL, truckload, and intermodal shipments. The role analyzes transportation methods, resolves delivery issues, and recommends transportation solutions while maintaining vendor records and cost data.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange carrier services using routing requirements in a transportation management system
- Provide freight analysis and decision support for LTL, truckload, and other transportation systems
- Review, root cause, and correct transportation system errors
- Assist with filing of carrier claims and maintain vendor records and cost data
- Develop improvements by analyzing transportation and operations practices and supporting continual improvement processes
Technical Overview
This role operates within logistics systems using a transportation management system for routing requirements and shipment execution. It relies heavily on analytical workflows such as freight analysis, decision support, root-cause correction of transportation system errors, and reporting using Excel and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an analytical logistics professional with at least 2 years of relevant experience in dispatching, freight management/brokerage, warehousing, or process development. They are comfortable scheduling and expediting LTL, truckload, and intermodal shipments, can file and manage carrier claims, and use transportation management systems and Excel to analyze root causes and recommend transportation improvements.
