About this role

Maintenance Tech 1 supports Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom Rack locations by performing preventive maintenance and responding to on-demand maintenance needs. The role works under close supervision to troubleshoot and assist with basic repairs across building systems and equipment while maintaining safety and accurate maintenance records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and on-demand requests with accurate maintenance records
  • Conduct daily inspections and building rounds
  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs (plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, HVAC)
  • Maintain lighting systems (fixtures, replacing bulbs and lamps)
  • Follow safety and health rules including LOTO, PPE, working at heights, and machine guarding

Technical Overview

The technician will perform preventive maintenance, daily inspections, and basic troubleshooting for facilities systems including plumbing, roofs, drains, HVAC, and lighting. Responsibilities also include interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams, and following LOTO and PPE safety procedures.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an entry-level Facilities Maintenance Technician I with at least 1 year of related experience or training and strong willingness to learn. They are detail-oriented, comfortable using power tools, and able to follow written and verbal procedures while handling preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs across HVAC, plumbing, roofing, drains, and lighting systems.
