About this role
This role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment at a wood fired steam turbine electrical generation power plant. Responsibilities span routine to complex mechanical troubleshooting, including installation/repair work, contractor coordination, safety compliance, and maintenance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment at the power plant
- Perform blueprint-based repair and maintenance including drilling, tapping, fabricating, welding, machinery alignment and quality control
- Maintain mechanical equipment for biomass and gas fired boilers, steam turbines, electrical generators, compressors, water treatment equipment, pumps, valves and auxiliaries
- Use a maintenance reporting system to record time/material usage and complete maintenance history
- Coordinate with and monitor contractors and attend to safety, housekeeping, and equipment tagging
Technical Overview
The technician performs mechanical repair tasks using blueprint sketches and procedures, including drilling, tapping, fabrication, welding, machinery alignment, and quality control.
