This role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment at a wood fired steam turbine electrical generation power plant. Responsibilities span routine to complex mechanical troubleshooting, including installation/repair work, contractor coordination, safety compliance, and maintenance documentation.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment at the power plant
  • Perform blueprint-based repair and maintenance including drilling, tapping, fabricating, welding, machinery alignment and quality control
  • Maintain mechanical equipment for biomass and gas fired boilers, steam turbines, electrical generators, compressors, water treatment equipment, pumps, valves and auxiliaries
  • Use a maintenance reporting system to record time/material usage and complete maintenance history
  • Coordinate with and monitor contractors and attend to safety, housekeeping, and equipment tagging

The technician performs mechanical repair tasks using blueprint sketches and procedures, including drilling, tapping, fabrication, welding, machinery alignment, and quality control. They maintain systems including biomass and gas fired boilers, steam turbines, electrical generators, compressors, water treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and auxiliary equipment, and record work in a maintenance reporting system.

The ideal candidate is a maintenance technician with hands-on mechanical repair and troubleshooting experience at a power generation facility. They are skilled with blueprint-based maintenance (including drilling, welding, and machinery alignment), can maintain boilers and steam turbines, and reliably record maintenance work using a maintenance reporting system while following strict safety and hazard identification practices.
