About this role
Oversee the local refinery accounting department and ensure accurate, compliant refinery financial reporting across multiple accounting functions. Lead month-end close activities, recurring journal entries, inventory and pipeline reporting, and deliver analyses for plant management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee refinery accounting functions (Accounts Receivable/Payable, operations accounting, yield reconciliation, fixed assets, financial reporting, inventory movements)
- Ensure SOX compliance and maintain work papers
- Manage monthly recurring journal entries (energy consumption, royalty amortization) and maintain GL accuracy
- Produce reporting for plant management (actual vs budgets, capital expenditures) and resolve variances
- Coordinate with auditors and develop/refine refinery transaction processes and policies
Technical Overview
This role focuses on refinery accounting processes including SOX documentation, monthly recurring journal entries, and refinery general ledger accuracy using SAP. Responsibilities cover inventory movements, yield reconciliation, fixed assets/project accounting, and reporting such as pipeline transactions and liquid balance/exchange reconciliation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior accounting professional with 10+ years of refinery or industry accounting experience, including SOX compliance and strong ownership of month-end close activities. They have hands-on experience with SAP, refinery general ledger accuracy, inventory and pipeline reporting, and producing actual vs. budgets and capital expenditure analyses for plant management.
