About this role
Mechanic 1 Class - Pipefitter installs, maintains, and repairs process piping systems within the refinery. The role involves selecting and fitting components, addressing leaks and flange issues, and completing work using tools while following safety procedures and work permits.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain process pipe and piping systems in the refinery
- Select, install, and remove pipe, fittings, gaskets, tubing, and valves
- Repair and replace flanges and maintain leaking pipes
- Tie into existing lines, vessels, or tanks using safety and work permits
- Use hand and power tools; read schematics, blueprints, and drawings
Technical Overview
Hands-on pipefitting work focused on refinery process piping: installs/removes piping components (pipe, fittings, gaskets, tubing, valves), repairs and replaces flanges, and ties into existing lines/vessels/tanks under permit and safety requirements. Requires blueprint/schematic interpretation and accurate alignment using precision measuring and alignment tools.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a pipefitter with 5+ years of related refinery experience installing, maintaining, and repairing process piping systems. They are comfortable reading schematics/blueprints, using precision measuring and alignment tools, and strictly following safety procedures and work permits on-site. They are eligible to obtain and consistently wear a TWIC card while working in the refinery.
