Position Details
About this role
This role supports Amazon's Data Center Global Services mechanical design efforts, combining HVAC system design with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. You will develop engineering calculations, produce construction bid documents, and act as the CFD subject matter expert within a fast-paced data center design team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform load and water use calculations
- Conduct CFD modelling and provide CFD subject matter expertise
- Select equipment and develop concept sketches
- Answer construction Requests for Information (RFI) and develop mechanical Scopes of Work (SOW)
- Produce construction documents for bidding and assist with detailed project work
Technical Overview
You will perform project-related mechanical engineering tasks including load and water use calculations, equipment selection, and CFD modelling. The work includes generating report documents and supporting design specifications, along with handling construction Requests for Information (RFI) and preparing Scopes of Work (SOW) and bidding documents.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mechanical design engineer with strong experience in mechanical HVAC system design and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. They can produce engineering deliverables such as load/water use calculations, equipment selections, concept sketches, and detailed construction documents, while serving as a CFD subject matter expert for data center design.
