About this role
This role hires a Mechanical Engineer to perform detailed mechanical design, engineering analysis, and system integration design for Textron Systems’ Howe & Howe business area. You will collaborate on concept development, prototyping, and production support while producing engineering documentation that enables fabrication and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop imaginative technical solutions to difficult engineering problems
- Contribute to concept development including prototyping and production support
- Generate statements of work and monitor outside contractor performance
- Oversee unit level testing and integration activities performed by junior staff
- Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis (structural and thermal) and produce engineering documentation (specifications and drawings)
Technical Overview
The technical focus includes solid modeling, drafting, requirements analysis, and mechanical analysis covering structural and thermal effects plus tolerance analysis. The job also requires participation in unit level testing and integration activities, typically coordinating with junior staff and external partners.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in detailed mechanical design, solid modeling, and drafting, including structural and thermal/mechanical analysis and tolerance analysis. They are comfortable producing engineering documentation such as specifications and drawings and supporting prototyping and unit level testing. SolidWorks proficiency is preferred, and the candidate understands vehicle systems; DOD experience and secret clearance ability are major advantages.
