About this role
AECOM is hiring a Mid-Level ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Engineer to support Indianapolis transportation projects with a quick path to Deputy Project Management. The role focuses on planning, design, and deployment of ITS infrastructure while also supporting select traffic engineering tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, design, and deployment of ITS infrastructure (traffic management systems, fiber optic communications, CCTV, dynamic message signs, connected vehicle technologies)
- Apply the systems engineering process for ITS and emerging technology projects
- Prepare design plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical memoranda, and reports
- Perform ITS design tasks including device layout and communications network design
- Support traffic-related tasks including traffic analysis, safety evaluations, and traffic control plan development
Technical Overview
You will apply the systems engineering process to ITS and emerging technology projects from concept through implementation, including device layout and communications network design. Responsibilities include traffic management systems design, CCTV and dynamic message signs support, connected vehicle technologies integration, and traffic analysis/safety evaluations with quality control on deliverables.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Engineer with at least 4 years of relevant experience who can apply systems engineering from concept through implementation. They have hands-on experience with ITS infrastructure such as traffic management systems, fiber optic communications, CCTV, dynamic message signs, and connected vehicle technologies, along with strong traffic analysis and stakeholder-ready technical communication.
