Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head (Group 1 Automotive) is hiring transitioning Military & Veteran Automotive Technicians/Mechanics for a dealership maintenance and repair role. The position emphasizes paid OJT and apprenticeship training, strong diagnostic ability, and compliance with dealership and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform authorized repairs per repair orders, Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure parts availability, Road test vehicles to ensure quality of repair and maintain cleanliness, Document work performed as directed by Service Advisors, Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins and attend factory-sponsored training
Technical Overview
This is a hands-on automotive technician role using advanced diagnostic equipment and multiple diagnostic consoles to diagnose malfunctions and complete repairs per repair orders. Work includes coordinating parts for warranty/customer needs, road testing for quality, and staying current with factory technical bulletins and training classes.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a military veteran transitioning into a civilian automotive maintenance career with prior technician or mechanic experience. They can diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs using repair orders, coordinate with the Parts Department, and road test vehicles while documenting work accurately and following OSHA and other safety requirements.
