Mill Diagnostic Mechanic I supports mechanical reliability by performing component diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment. The role includes welding (Stick and Tig), interpreting schematics/blueprints, and mentoring other employees as needed.

  • Perform component diagnostic replacement and repairs on crushers, conveyor systems, ball mills, screen decks, lube systems, compressors, filter drums, hydraulic filter presses, foundry pumps and lubrication systems
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance and identify potential failures/noises/wear
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed
  • Perform welding (Stick, Tig) and demonstrate proficient basic welding skills
  • Train and mentor other employees; may operate forklifts/overhead cranes and act as Fill-in Supervisor as needed

Performs diagnostic replacement and repairs on crushers, conveyor systems, ball mills, screen decks, lube systems, compressors, filter drums, hydraulic filter presses, and pumps. Executes mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance, identifies wear/failure indicators, and uses welding skills (Stick/Tig) along with schematic and blueprint reading to support safe production.

The ideal candidate is an entry-level mechanical maintenance professional with 2+ years of hands-on experience repairing industrial equipment, including rotating machinery and lubrication systems. They should be proficient in Stick and Tig welding, comfortable reading schematics and blueprints, and able to perform diagnostic replacements and preventative maintenance safely.
