About this role
The MiTracking Epidemiologist provides epidemiological and data support for Michigan’s Environmental Public Health Tracking program (MiTracking). The role focuses on dataset metadata and measures, maintaining the data portal, ensuring data quality/security, and supporting CDC submissions along with analysis, reporting, and visualizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update metadata for MiTracking datasets
- Maintain MiTracking data portal and data measures
- Ensure data quality and security using a Quality Assurance template
- Support twice yearly CDC data submissions
- Analyze data and produce reports/publications with dashboards and data stories
Technical Overview
This role centers on environmental public health data management and analysis, including GIS-based display and web portal query support. The workflow includes ensuring data quality via a Quality Assurance template, using SAS, Microsoft Access, Excel, and Tableau to analyze and visualize hazard, exposure, and health data for reports and dashboards.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or biostatistics with graduate-level coursework in epidemiology and/or biostatistics. They can support MiTracking by managing environmental hazard/exposure/health datasets, ensuring data quality and security, and producing dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like SAS, Excel, Microsoft Access, and Tableau.
Must-Have Skills
