About this role
Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for Model Risk Management to lead independent validation and oversight of Machine Learning and Generative AI models. The role partners with data science, legal, and compliance to ensure models meet governance and risk requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead independent validation of Machine Learning and Generative AI models
- Perform model design review, code review, and testing
- Conduct controls assessment and quantitative bias/fairness review
- Partner with legal, compliance, and analytics teams to challenge and improve model quality
- Track emerging tools, techniques, and regulations to mature AI governance frameworks
Technical Overview
Own end-to-end validation activities including model design review, code review, testing, and controls assessment, with explicit quantitative bias/fairness review. Build AI solutions to streamline workflows and elevate oversight quality using Python, scikit-learn, SQL, and pyspark.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Senior Data Scientist with 5+ years of experience developing and validating Machine Learning and Generative AI models, ideally in financial services. They are strong in Python (with scikit-learn), SQL, and pyspark, and can lead independent validation activities including model design review, code review, testing, and quantitative bias/fairness review.
