About this role
This part-time role oversees accounting operations for automotive dealership activities, ensuring accurate financial records and regulatory compliance. The controller/accountant will manage general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, reporting under GAAP and IFRS, and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage automobile sales, service, parts, and inventory accounting
- Run accounts payable and accounts receivable and collections
- Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Prepare GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) financial reports and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance
- Handle cash management, payroll processing, and compliance/regulatory reports
Technical Overview
The scope includes dealership accounting across sales, service, parts, and inventory, with ongoing reconciliations and compliance-focused financial reporting. Tools include QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero, plus payroll processing and tax filings management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a part-time controller or automobile accountant with hands-on accounting experience in the automotive industry. They are confident preparing GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) reports, running accounts payable and accounts receivable, performing balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and ensuring SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) control compliance using tools like QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
