About this role
Provide network and cyber security administration support for state agencies. Handle firewall service requests, break-fix and change requests, maintain compliance security controls, and manage Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewall configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and execution of Firewall Service Requests (FSRs), break-fix tickets, and formal change requests
- Decommission and refresh End-of-Life (EOL) hardware
- Implement security controls and configurations for IRS, FBI, and CJI compliance standards
- Configure and manage Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls
- Participate in weekly on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance/emergency response
Technical Overview
The role focuses on firewall administration and operational security controls. Responsibilities include Palo Alto next-generation firewall features (Zones, security policies, S2S VPN, Natting, threat prevention) and Cisco ASA configuration, troubleshooting, and rule management, plus foundational networking (routing protocols, subnetting, OSI model).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a network security administrator with hands-on experience managing Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls, including configuration, troubleshooting, and rule management. They can process Firewall Service Requests (FSRs), handle break-fix tickets and change requests, and support recurring End-of-Life (EOL) hardware refresh while maintaining compliance-aligned security controls and configurations. Availability for weekly on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance is essential.
