About this role

The Operations Accountant supports accounting and auditing functions across UFP's legal entities and assists with daily accounting team responsibilities. The role focuses on journal entries, reconciliations, month-end/module closing, accrual monitoring, research of accounting issues, and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and enter journal entries including stored/recurring and branch-structured entries
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and coordinate corrections
Oversee module closing, balance inter-company accounts, and monitor accrual reasonableness
Research improper account usage, computer bugs, and improper procedures
Complete year-end closing and audit requirements and produce ad-hoc reports/analyses

Technical Overview

This is a finance role centered on accounting close workflows: journal entries (including stored/recurring and branch-structured entries), balance sheet reconciliations, inter-company balancing, accrual reasonableness, and year-end closing and audit readiness. Reporting and analysis are done via Excel-based spreadsheets and ad-hoc analyses, supported by Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an Operations Accountant with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting/finance or equivalent business major background and strong accounting fundamentals (journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close). They have experience supporting multiple legal entities, preparing accounting analysis spreadsheets, and handling year-end closing and audit requirements using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Must-Have Skills

Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts in accountingfinanceor another business major (related experience with a degree in another field is also acceptable)Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related softwareincluding Microsoft applications (ExcelWordand Outlook are required)Working knowledge and understanding of accounting and finance practices
