About this role
Pharmacy Technician II will assist pharmacists with day-to-day pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory management, documentation, and sterile IV compounding. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, cleanliness, and compliance with HIPAA processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing per valid prescriptions and policies
- Perform sterile IV compounding using low, medium, and high risk techniques
- Maintain inventory levels and complete drug expiration review monthly
- Complete cleaning (daily/monthly/in-process) and equipment calibration
- Follow processes to minimize mis-fills, product waste, and HIPAA violations
Technical Overview
This role focuses on pharmacy technical and clerical operations: sterile IV compounding (including Antibiotics, TPN, inotropes, pain bags, hydration, and push meds), risk-based compounding techniques (low/medium/high), cleaning and equipment calibration, and operational controls to reduce mis-fills and waste. It also includes pump issue troubleshooting and inventory/expiration workflows.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Pharmacy Technician II experienced in sterile IV compounding, including TPN and other high-risk preparations, with strong attention to HIPAA and medication safety. They are able to support pharmacists with daily pharmacy dispensing operations, complete inventory and expiration reviews, and reliably troubleshoot pump issues without escalation.
