About this role
The Plant Analysis Accountant for an ethanol plant reviews and prepares accounting documents, executes accounting and analysis activities, and supports budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and compliance reporting. The role coordinates with the Plant Controller and Plant Operations and supports audits and governmental reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accounting journals for monthly financial close
- Support budgeting, forecasts, and variance-to-plan analysis
- Maintain Plant KPI’s including yields and inventory statistics
- Ensure FSMA compliance for co-product shipments, corn receipts, and chemical receipts
- Manage AFE logging and support audits and governmental reporting
Technical Overview
Plant-level accounting and controls execution: prepares monthly close journals, supports internal financial controls, runs budgeting/forecast cycles, analyzes variances, calculates yields and inventory statistics for Plant KPI’s, manages AFE logging and accounting classification, and produces daily/period reporting for operational and compliance needs (including FSMA-related reporting and Daily Fleet Report volume calculations).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level accounting professional experienced supporting plant-level financial close, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for an ethanol or similar industrial facility. They are comfortable preparing accounting journals, maintaining KPI reporting, and supporting compliance activities including FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act). They also have hands-on experience with AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) tracking and audit data gathering.
