About this role

This role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment at a wood fired steam turbine electrical generation power plant. Responsibilities span routine maintenance through complex mechanical troubleshooting and include accurate maintenance reporting and equipment/system tagging.

Key Responsibilities

Perform repair and maintenance work following blueprint sketches and procedures
Troubleshoot mechanical design problems and recommend modifications
Follow safety/environmental rules, identify hazards, and implement repairs
Maintain mechanical equipment (boilers, steam turbines, generators, compressors, pumps, valves, auxiliary equipment)
Record maintenance history using the maintenance reporting system and tag equipment/systems

Technical Overview

The technician will work with steam turbines, electrical generators, boilers (biomass and gas fired), compressors, pumps, valves, and auxiliary equipment. Work includes blueprint/sketch-driven repairs, drilling/tapping/fabrication/welding, machinery alignment, quality control, precision measurement, rigging/staging erection, and continuous improvement troubleshooting.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced power plant maintenance technician with strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills on steam turbine generating equipment. They have hands-on experience with blueprint-driven repairs, precision measurement tools, welding and machinery alignment, and disciplined safety/environmental compliance. They are able to complete maintenance documentation using a maintenance reporting system and support continuous improvement activities.
