About this role
This role performs complex financial analysis and accounting policy/research for GAAP and Regulatory Accounting Principles (RAP) issues. The position leads implementation of new accounting pronouncements and supports external reporting filings with the SEC, FERC, and MPSC while working with external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and provide accounting guidance for GAAP and Regulatory Accounting Principles (RAP) issues
- Lead cross-functional implementation of new accounting pronouncements and related disclosure requirements
- Work with external auditors to resolve emerging accounting issues
- Support external reporting preparation and filing of Form 10-Ks, Form 10-Q's, and Form 11-K's with the SEC
- Facilitate process improvements for accounting policy/research and external reporting workflows
Technical Overview
The analyst provides technical accounting and finance expertise by researching accounting authoritative literature and pronouncements for financial statement presentation and disclosure needs. They also support external reporting preparation and regulatory filings, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, and Form 11-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), plus annual/quarterly regulatory filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a lead-level financial analyst experienced in accounting policy and research, with strong GAAP and Regulatory Accounting Principles (RAP) knowledge. They can independently research accounting authoritative literature and pronouncements, provide technical accounting guidance, and lead cross-functional implementation of new standards. They also have hands-on experience supporting external reporting and SEC, FERC, and MPSC filings and working with external auditors.
