About this role
Fifth Third Bancorp is looking for a Principal Data Engineer to design and build data platforms, tools, and solutions that help the bank manage, secure, and generate value from its data. The role covers end-to-end data engineering (ETL, analytics, warehousing, streaming, and persistence) and includes CI/CD and on-call support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, Development, and Support of data solutions, APIs, tools, and processes for rapid business delivery
- Build scalable platforms and reusable solutions for gathering, collecting, storing, processing, and serving data
- Work with IT application teams, Enterprise architecture, infrastructure, information security, and LOB stakeholders to translate strategies into data solutions
- Build CI/CD pipelines, self-service build tools, and automated deployment processes for data delivery
- Provide support and troubleshooting for data platforms, including escalated on-call support for critical incidents
Technical Overview
The engineer will build scalable and reusable data solutions across ETL, business intelligence, analytics, data warehousing, stream processing, and machine learning, supporting both on-premise and cloud-based data platforms. They will develop data solution APIs, implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes, and provide support and troubleshooting for data platforms including escalated on-call incidents.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a principal-level data engineer who designs and builds scalable data engineering platforms across ETL, business intelligence, analytics, data warehousing, persistence (relational and NoSQL), and stream processing. They have strong experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes, and they provide hands-on data platform support including escalated on-call incident response.
