About this role
Principal SRE Engineer to join Palo Alto Networks' InfoSec SRE team, building and delivering secure infrastructure across AWS/GCP with federal compliance. Will lead automation, incident response, and security tooling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect Federal Resilience: design, build, and operate secure, multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) tailored for FedRAMP and DoD impact levels
- Strategic Automation Leadership: champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Monitoring as Code (MaC) to automate deployments and end-to-end observability
- DevSecOps Orchestration: integrate automated security and compliance capabilities into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/GitLab/Jenkins)
- Operational Excellence: Lead RCA for critical incidents and participate in on-call rotations
- Innovation & Mentorship: foster a 'Community of Practice' for collective learning, integrating AI-driven development tools

Role emphasizes multi-cloud security architecture, IaC with Terraform and Helm, CI/CD integration, and strong networking/security fundamentals including DoD/FedRAMP constraints. Requires deep Kubernetes/container networking and Linux expertise.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a US citizen with 8+ years of SRE/DevOps experience, strong AWS/GCP expertise, Kubernetes and container networking, and a deep background in security tooling (Terraform, Helm, IaC). They should have FedRAMP/DoD experience and be comfortable driving security-focused, end-to-end cloud initiatives.
