About this role
This role is for a senior R&D Software Engineer on Broadcom's Mainframe Security and Compliance team. You will build, test, and support mainframe security solutions, using test-first practices and leading complex code modifications and debugging.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply experience to inform the product roadmap
- Experiment with new technologies
- Adopt test-first development and support testing/plan reviews
- Mentor junior developers and lead a small team
- Write and maintain documentation for development, testing, and changes
Technical Overview
You will develop and validate mainframe software in the IBM mainframe environment using IBM Assembler/Metal C on zOS or zVSE, implement JCL batch processes, and use debugging tools like XDC and IPCS. Responsibilities include test-first development, unit/module and integration testing, code and design reviews, and documentation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level R&D Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience testing modern large-scale software and complex test configurations in the IBM mainframe environment. They are strong in test-first development, debugging (XDC, IPCS), and implementing mainframe code using IBM Assembler/Metal C along with JCL for zOS or zVSE, and can lead a small team through design/code reviews and mentoring.
