About this role
Per diem Registered Nurse (RN) role in the PCU Float Pool for day shifts. The nurse is responsible for total nursing care, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, including patient and family education and telemetry-based patient monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver total nursing care including assessment and evaluation
- Plan and implement nursing care for assigned patients
- Teach and educate patients and families/significant others
- Interpret telemetry monitoring strips
- Provide specialized PCU care and meet compliance requirements (EKG, fit testing, NIHSS)
Technical Overview
Clinical responsibilities for Progressive Care Unit patients with telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation, plus care for neurologically compromised and pre/post-op orthopedic patients. Includes compliance requirements such as Respiratory Fit Testing Protection Policy and completion of an EKG test within the first 30 days, with NIHSS required.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a California-licensed Registered Nurse with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool experience and day shift availability. They hold current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS, can interpret telemetry strips, complete required EKG testing within 30 days, and are experienced with NIHSS and care for neurologically compromised patients.
