About this role
This role supports the trauma program by monitoring care quality, identifying improvement opportunities, and managing the performance improvement program in alignment with trauma center standards. The Trauma Process Improvement Nurse ensures compliance with required standards and helps drive peer review, injury prevention, and data-driven improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor trauma program aspects of care in conjunction with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director
- Assure trauma guidelines and protocols are consistent with provided care
- Identify opportunities for improvement and manage the performance improvement program
- Meet Riverside County Trauma Center Standards plus JC and American College of Surgeons standards
- Manage patient information and support peer review, injury prevention, and data presentations
Technical Overview
The position focuses on trauma process improvement and performance improvement management, including handling trauma statistical reports, peer review, and injury prevention activities. It requires strong data presentation skills and Microsoft Office proficiency while meeting trauma center, Joint Commission (JC), and American College of Surgeons standards and applicable regulations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a trauma-experienced Registered Nurse with at least five years of trauma nursing experience and either ED Trauma or Trauma ICU experience. They hold a current California RN license, an American Heart Association BLS certificate, and either a Trauma Registrar certification (CSTR or CAISS Certified) or can obtain it within three years of hire, with strong performance improvement and peer review expertise.
