Position Details
About this role
Fauna Robotics is seeking a Robotics/AI Motor Control Scientist to develop and optimize machine learning algorithms for robot motor control systems. The role focuses on building controllers using reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or related AI methods to achieve natural, robust, and adaptive whole-body robot behaviors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop controllers using reinforcement learning or imitation learning for adaptive motor behaviors
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate motor control systems with robotic hardware
- Use simulation and real-world testing to refine and validate control algorithms
- Stay current on robotics, AI, and control system advancements
- Lead technical projects and mentor junior scientists and engineers
Technical Overview
You will design motor control strategies, integrate them with robotic hardware under real-world constraints (including actuator dynamics and energy efficiency), and validate results using simulation and real-world testing. You will also lead technical projects through production deployment while bridging research initiatives with practical engineering implementation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a robotics research scientist with a PhD or a Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience focused on motor control systems. They have hands-on experience with reinforcement learning and imitation learning to build adaptive, robust robot controllers, and they can validate algorithms through both simulation and real-world testing.
