Rotorcraft Design and Assessment Subject Matter Expert (Remote, TOC)

CFD Research is seeking a Rotorcraft Design and Assessment Subject Matter Expert to support the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC) Technology Development Directorate (TDD). The role focuses on guiding multidisciplinary design efforts and performing assessments and trades studies for rotorcraft conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities.

• Represent CD&A as a rotorcraft design SME in meetings and program reviews;Advise leadership on strategies for future concept exploration and tool development;Use NASA Design and Analysis of Rotorcraft (NDARC) for modeling and performance assessment;Perform trade studies to explore requirements trade space and assess design impacts;Provide technical expertise for future air vehicle concepts and exploratory design initiatives

The SME will leverage computational tools to develop or apply methods for modeling cost, propulsion, and parametric design, and to assess air vehicle performance, weight, cost, and operational attributes. They will use government-standard tools such as NASA Design and Analysis of Rotorcraft (NDARC) for detailed aircraft modeling and performance assessment.

The ideal candidate is a rotorcraft design and assessment Subject Matter Expert with strong experience guiding multidisciplinary design efforts and running trades studies to support requirements development. They are proficient with rotorcraft performance modeling and assessment, including using NASA Design and Analysis of Rotorcraft (NDARC) and building models for cost, propulsion, and parametric design. They can represent CD&A at program reviews and communicate technical guidance to stakeholders across TDD.
