About this role
Valiant Solutions is seeking a Security Architect SME to join our cybersecurity team and lead the development of security architecture guidance for on-premise and cloud platforms for a large government agency. You will translate NIST controls into practical designs and lead Zero Trust initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and align system security architectures with cybersecurity guidelines
- Develop focused guidance for encryption and security mechanisms
- Assess and evaluate security postures
- Identify security and privacy requirements
- Contribute to RMF and lifecycle documentation
Technical Overview
Develop and align system security architectures with organizational cybersecurity guidelines, including NIST SP 800-53 rev5, Azure security, and RMF; produce policy language, SOPs, and as-code hardening standards; support RMF activities and risk management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior security architect with deep hands-on experience designing security architectures for cloud and on-premise systems within the federal/government sector, with strong NIST and RMF familiarity and Azure expertise.
Must-Have Skills
7+ years of experience designing security architectures by referencing NIST security controlsagency policyand government-wide security requirements2+ years of experience designing Zero Trust Architectures to secure cloud and on-premise systemsExperience designing security architectures hosted in Microsoft AzureExperience assessing/reviewing security architectureswriting reports with detailed explanatory findingsand providing briefings on your findingsDeveloping security architecture guidance to include policy languageStandard Operating Proceduresand as-code hardening standardsExtensive knowledge of NIST 800-53 rev5 and other NIST Special PublicationsCurrent knowledge of government-wide security mandates and CISA DirectivesAbility to define and document system security boundaries and categorize systems based on security and privacy requirementsSkilled in analyzing user needs to inform and guide secure architecture planningProven ability to assess and evaluate enterprise security postures and identify impacts from new systems or interfacesExperience developing technical documentationincluding written documents and diagramsExperience developing presentation slide decks and presenting to technical and non-technical personnelExperience identifying and documenting security and privacy requirementsincluding personal data handlingFamiliarity with identifying and protecting enterprise and system-level security dataAbility to collaborate with stakeholders and translate functional needs into technical security requirementsAbility to support cost estimation and technical guidance related to secure system design and changesSkilled in identifying gaps in security architecture and contributing to the development of security risk management plansProficiency in documenting and updating security architecture throughout the system development and acquisition lifecycle
