About this role
AECOM seeks an experienced Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager for its California Cultural Resources team in Oakland, CA. The role leads cultural resources projects end-to-end, serves as Principal Investigator, manages clients and schedules, and supports business development and marketing for work in Northern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, monitoring)
- Execute archival research and technical report writing
- Lead state and federal archaeological permitting and data collection/compilation
- Serve as a Principal Investigator and supervise personnel
- Manage clients and project operations including forecasting, invoicing, progress reports, and scheduling
Technical Overview
You will manage field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, monitoring) and execute archival research, technical report writing, and state and federal archaeological permitting. The role requires working knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks including CEQA, NEPA, and NHPA, plus data collection and compilation and deliverables oversight.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior archaeologist and project manager who can lead cultural resources projects from fieldwork through technical reporting and permitting. They have strong working knowledge of CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act), NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act), and NHPA (National Historic Preservation Act) and can serve as a Principal Investigator while managing clients, schedules, and deliverables.
