About this role

Senior Lead AI Engineer responsible for building and operating Capital One's AI foundation platforms and Gen AI services. You will lead the development of AI software components, optimize LLM workflows, and contribute to the long-term AI strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that change how our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital One
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability
Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch
Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance - scalability, cost, latency, throughput - of large scale production AI systems
Contribute to the technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One

Technical Overview

Technical scope includes foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, governance, and observability using Open Source and SaaS AI tools such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior/lead AI engineer with 4+ years of Python/Java/Scala experience and a strong track record deploying foundation models and LLMs in production, including experience with PyTorch, Huggingface, and vector databases. They should be able to lead cross-functional teams and communicate complex AI concepts clearly.
