Senior Manager, External Data

Lead the External Data team’s data management efforts, including refining BI’s external data strategy and managing the end-to-end lifecycle of bringing in new external data, products, and services. Partner with business stakeholders and enterprise teams to evaluate external sources, run test-and-learn experiments, and enable data capabilities for business teams.

• Serve as primary point of contact for external data vendors and manage vendor risk and pricing
• Research and evaluate external data sources to build next-generation products
• Partner with stakeholders and data scientists to understand external data needs and execute test-and-learn experiments
• Investigate and facilitate management of enabled data capabilities for business teams
• Champion ongoing refinement of BI's external data strategy across the broader Travelers framework

Focuses on external data sourcing, vendor risk governance, and external data product strategy for Property & Casualty insurance. Applies test-and-learn experimentation and data capability enablement practices in collaboration with data scientists, Actuarial, and R&D.

The ideal candidate is a senior data management leader experienced in external data sourcing and lifecycle management within an insurance environment. They have led vendor relationship management, negotiated pricing, assessed vendor risk, and partnered with Actuarial and R&D to build next-generation data products. They are strong in cross-functional collaboration, test-and-learn experimentation, and communicating value to business and analytics leadership.
