About this role
This role designs, implements, and supports Cisco-focused network solutions for the EPA OIG environment in a remote-first setup with occasional on-site requirements. The engineer will handle secure routing/firewall configurations, performance monitoring, and high-availability failover requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement on-premise and cloud network solutions
- Install and support routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and hyperconverged systems
- Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security while meeting Federal and EPA mandates
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and provide executive level reports
- Ensure failover network security and maintain a 99.9% uptime target
Technical Overview
The technical scope spans on-premise and cloud networking, including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing, switching, proxy servers, WAN accelerators, and hyperconverged systems. It also includes platform management (IPMI and Lights-Out Management (LOM)), compliance alignment with FedRAMP and NIST, and operational readiness to maintain 99.9% uptime.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior network engineer with 10+ years of Cisco network engineering experience who can design and implement both on-premise and cloud network solutions. They understand data loss prevention (DLP) policies, tenant-level governance, and compliance, and can maintain secure failover network performance with an emphasis on meeting Federal and EPA mandates.
