AECOM seeks a Senior Signal Engineer to join its World Class Rail Team in the New York Metro Region. The position centers on designing and implementing rail train control systems (including ATC, PTC, ATS, ATP, ATO, SSI, cab signaling, and block signaling) and supporting the commissioning phase.

  • Develop and review design plans and technical specifications
  • Coordinate project designs across disciplines and attend project meetings
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning of rail based signaling including ATC/PTC/CBTC
  • Develop detailed signal designs including at grade railroad crossing systems and traffic preemption functions
  • Perform feasibility studies and analysis (braking calculations, control tables, routes/aspects, schematics, phasing plans)

The role includes developing and reviewing design plans and technical specifications, supporting installation/testing/commissioning of ATC/PTC/CBTC projects, and creating detailed signal designs such as at-grade crossing warning systems and traffic preemption functions. Work also covers Vital and non-vital processor programming and feasibility analysis including braking calculations, control tables, routes and aspects, schematics, and phasing plans.

The ideal candidate is a Senior Signal Engineer with 10+ years of experience designing Train Control Systems and supporting project delivery from planning/design through installation and commissioning. They are strong in ATC/PTC/CBTC signaling scopes, Vital and non-vital processor programming, and development of route and aspect documentation for rail operations.
