About this role
Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Disney's cross-platform JavaScript video player powering Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Lead architecture decisions, optimize for multiple devices, and mentor teammates to deliver high-quality streaming experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain our JavaScript player that drives our streaming experience
- Optimize our player for resource constrained platforms
- Create and review architecture and technical designs
- Drive testing strategies and telemetry approaches
- Mentor engineers
Technical Overview
Stack centers on JavaScript and web technologies for video playback with streaming protocols (HLS/DASH), DRM integration (PlayReady, Widevine), and support for codecs (AVC/HEVC/AAC/EAC3). Will drive build and CI pipelines and collaborate with backend services.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior software engineer with deep JavaScript/web platform experience and hands-on streaming knowledge (DRM, ABR, codecs). They should have 5+ years building cross-platform video experiences, lead architecture discussions, and mentor other engineers.
