About this role
The Senior/Staff Engineer, Control Systems serves as the technical expert for instrumentation and control technology, accountable for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving associated systems and documentation. The role also administers DCS alarm management and the Operator Training Simulator (OTS), supports capital projects through advanced control strategy development, and participates in safety/compliance audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer control systems and keep systems operational through upgrades/replacements
- Own the DCS alarm management program and implement Operator Guide Messages
- Administer the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) for training/engineering use
- Apply Management of Change (MOC) and support Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
- Develop complex control schemes/logic and support capital and regulatory activities
Technical Overview
This position administers and improves control systems centered on the Distributed Control System (DCS), including alarm management to prevent nuisance alarms. It also requires ownership of control system documentation artifacts, application of Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and development of complex control schemes and logic for optimization and capital projects.

The ideal candidate is a senior or staff-level engineer who is a technical expert in instrumentation and control systems, especially Distributed Control System (DCS) alarm management. They have experience administering control system programs (including DCS alarms and Operator Training Simulator (OTS)), applying Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and participating in regulatory audits while supporting capital and optimization projects.
