About this role
Lead transmission planning consulting engagements for power system studies tied to transmission interconnection projects. Provide guidance to junior engineers, manage analysis activities using industry tools, and participate in business development through proposal and scope development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage consulting engagements for power system studies for transmission interconnection projects
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers performing power system modeling and analysis
- Perform load flow and contingency analysis to identify thermal/voltage constraints and transfer limits
- Lead/guide use of PSS/E, PSLF, TARA for stability-related transmission planning studies
- Participate in business development including identifying new work and preparing proposals with scope, approach, schedule, and budget
Technical Overview
This role focuses on power system study leadership including load flow and contingency analysis, plus stability analysis workflows using PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA. Optional/valued skills expand into electromagnetic transient analysis with PSCAD, short circuit analysis with CAPE or ASPEN, and scripting with Python or Java Script for study automation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior transmission planning leader with 15+ years of relevant engineering experience and at least 7 years leading teams of power systems engineers. They have deep expertise in load flow and contingency analysis using transmission planning tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA, and they can manage consulting engagements including proposal scope, schedule, and budget development.
Must-Have Skills
