About this role

Lead a team of 8–10 SDEs responsible for foundational infrastructure for Amazon Aurora DSQL (Distributed SQL) control plane. Own region build infrastructure, AWS API/SDK surface area, critical service integrations, and monitoring/observability while improving the path from code to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, mentor, and grow a team of 8-10 SDEs fostering ownership and operational excellence
  • Coordinate cross-team delivery across DSQL org
  • Own region build infrastructure for reliable region onboarding
  • Own AWS API and SDK surface area and AWS service integrations
  • Build monitoring/observability tooling and re-architect code-to-production pipelines

Technical Overview

You will manage development and operations for a serverless distributed SQL database across multiple AWS Regions, including API/SDK design, AWS service integrations (IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CloudFormation), and building monitoring/observability tooling. You will also drive architectural work such as cellular architecture/isolation boundaries and streamline build/test/deployment pipelines to reduce latency to production.

The ideal candidate is a Software Development Manager with experience leading engineering teams (8-10 SDEs) building and operating core cloud infrastructure for distributed SQL systems. They have strong AWS service integration experience across IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and CloudFormation, and they drive operational excellence through monitoring, observability, and rigorous release/build pipeline improvements.
