About this role

Amazon IVS is looking for a Software Development Manager for the Media Foundations team to define and execute technical strategy and drive operational excellence. This role leads engineering talent, partners with product and principal engineers, and improves incident response, deployment practices, and monitoring for critical streaming services.

Technical Overview

The Media Foundations team focuses on streaming media processing, including transmuxing/transcoding, codec technologies (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, AV1), formats (HLS, TS, FMP4), protocols (E-RTMP, SRT, WebRTC), and quality analysis (VMAF, PSNR). Services are implemented with C/C++/Go/Rust and handle low-latency/real-time inputs to produce packaged/real-time outputs at global scale.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior software engineering manager with strong experience leading streaming/media foundation services and owning operational excellence. They have deep technical exposure to service design and architecture, incident response, deployment practices, and monitoring, with practical familiarity with C/C++/Go/Rust and streaming codecs/protocols like H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, AV1, HLS, TS, FMP4, E-RTMP, SRT, and WebRTC.
