You will design and build scalable backend systems for Zoom’s chat platform, partnering with product and design to deliver reliable high-performance services. The role emphasizes distributed systems architecture, cloud infrastructure and deployment, and observability to drive improvements.

Technical Overview

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level backend engineer with 5+ years building enterprise-level backend services and distributed systems. They have strong Java and Python skills, hands-on cloud experience with AWS (or Azure/GCP), and a track record implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and CI/CD using Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Git.
