About this role
Twilio is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to work on the Audiences & Journeys team, building scalable backend APIs to power customer data platform features. You will collaborate with product, architecture, and other engineering teams to design APIs, identify performance bottlenecks, and drive system-level improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build robust, scalable backend systems and APIs for audience & journey creation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and other engineers to define solutions
- Communicate technical decisions clearly and articulate trade-offs
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence
- Troubleshoot and improve system reliability and operational tooling; participate in on-call rotation
Technical Overview
Focus on backend API development, data modeling, and scalable system design within Segment/CDP data platform. Work on API design, performance optimization, reliability, and AI-assisted features.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level Software Engineer with 2-4 years of backend/API experience, strong collaboration with product and design, and comfort scaling data-platform services for a CDP like Twilio Audiences & Journeys. They should be proficient designing scalable APIs, working with data models, and participating in on-call rotations.
