About this role
Serve as a technical underwriting and sales partner for Boiler & Machinery coverage, supporting agents and brokers with new and renewal business. Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book while independently assessing complex risk and negotiating complex accounts, occasionally involving reinsurance procurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business
- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
- Partner with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
- Meet in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products and write/retain accounts consistent with risk appetite
- Identify new business opportunities using consultative marketing and execute agency sales plans with the Managing Director (MD)
Technical Overview
Technical scope centers on underwriting and risk assessment for equipment breakdown coverage (Boiler & Machinery). Includes negotiating complex customer accounts and occasionally negotiating and procuring reinsurance, aligned to Travelers risk appetite.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an underwriting professional with 6-8 years experience who can independently assess complex risk and negotiate complex customer accounts. They partner closely with agents and brokers to grow and retain an assigned book of Boiler & Machinery business, supporting both new and renewal coverage. They bring consultative marketing and strong relationship-building skills to drive sales plans and profitability, occasionally managing reinsurance procurement needs.
