About this role

Sr. Lead AI Engineer leads development of Capital One's Gen AI platform services, focusing on foundation models and agentic AI capabilities to deliver scalable, responsible AI products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that change how our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital One
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, observability
  • Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch
  • Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance - scalability, cost, latency, throughput - of large scale production AI systems
  • Contribute to the technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a lead AI engineer with 4+ years of production ML/AI experience, strong PyTorch/Huggingface skills, and a track record deploying foundation models and LLMs. They should be comfortable leading cross-functional work and articulating complex AI concepts clearly.
