About this role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Hybrid) to lead mechanical design for high-performance buildings across a Bay Area portfolio. The role focuses on technical leadership, mechanical discipline leadership, mentorship of junior engineers, and end-to-end delivery of HVAC and building systems solutions through construction administration.

Key Responsibilities

Lead mechanical system design as a trusted technical resource and mechanical discipline lead
Ensure technical quality, code compliance, and constructability
Execute mechanical design from concept through construction administration (calculations, specifications, reports, drawings)
Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty disciplines
Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers and review work for technical accuracy and quality

Technical Overview

You will lead HVAC and mechanical system design from concept through construction administration, producing calculations, specifications, reports, and drawing development while ensuring code compliance and constructability. The role includes staying current with ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and IECC, analyzing system performance and energy use to optimize efficiency and resilience, and coordinating shop drawing, RFI, and submittal reviews during construction.
