About this role

Remote Senior Systems Engineer/SME role supporting enterprise IT systems with deep ownership of email, identity, and infrastructure. You will design, maintain, and automate Exchange (on-prem and hybrid), Microsoft 365 email, Proofpoint security, and VMware/Active Directory/Azure services while supporting security and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Exchange Server and Microsoft 365 email solutions
  • Lead migrations and coexistence between on-prem Exchange and Microsoft 365
  • Administer Proofpoint email security solutions including DLP and encryption
  • Administer VMware environments for virtualized Windows server infrastructure
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and troubleshoot email flow and Azure/security issues

Technical Overview

Core stack centers on Microsoft Exchange Server (2013/2016/2019) and Exchange Online with hybrid migrations and coexistence. The role also covers Microsoft 365 email, Proofpoint email security (DLP, encryption, filtering), identity and access management with Active Directory and Azure AD (OAuth, SAML, MFA), and VMware-based Windows server infrastructure, automated with PowerShell.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior systems engineer and Subject Matter Expert with 7+ years of hands-on Exchange and Microsoft 365 experience, including Exchange Server 2013/2016/2019 hybrid and migration projects. They are strong in Proofpoint administration (policy management, DLP, encryption, threat protection), VMware for Windows server environments, and automation with PowerShell, with solid Active Directory and Azure AD identity/access management experience.
