About this role
Responsible for planning, estimating, and scheduling refinery maintenance outages, emergency outages, turnarounds, catalyst change outs, and related capital work integration. Coordinates internal groups and supporting third-party planners to produce compliant work scopes, resource-loaded schedules, and contractor-ready work packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate efforts across refinery inspection, operations, maintenance, reliability engineering, project engineering, technical support, instrument and electrical, and rotating equipment groups to produce outage work scopes
- Schedule turnaround meetings and facilitate reviews and revisions of outage work lists
- Adhere to the Valero Turnaround Excellence Process (VTEP) including milestone compliance and use of workbench modules and applications
- Develop step-by-step resource loaded job plans and produce work packages for contractors including work lists, scopes, schedules, and materials
- Establish and analyze the critical path from oil out to oil in and communicate threats while leveling resources and managing contingencies
Technical Overview
Builds resource-loaded job plans and work breakdown structures in Primavera P6, integrates engineered capital project work into the overall turnaround schedule, and establishes the critical path from oil out to oil in. Reviews and approves detailed job packages using Valero’s VTEP process and manages schedule threats through critical path analysis and contingency planning.

The ideal candidate is a senior turnaround planning professional with hands-on experience planning, estimating, and scheduling refinery outages and turnarounds. They can build resource-loaded job plans and work breakdown structures in Primavera P6, develop contractor work packages, and manage critical path planning from oil out to oil in while adhering to the Valero Turnaround Excellence Process (VTEP).
