About this role
The Store Manager Candidate supports the Dollar General Store Manager with core store operations, including inventory management, stocking and receiving, merchandising, and required paperwork. This role helps develop an external candidate for the full Store Manager position over a limited period while maintaining compliance for safety, security, and cash control.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting and staffing activities
- Support merchandising (staging, stocking, storage, fixtures, pricing, signage)
- Assist inventory management and conduct inventories
- Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets
- Ensure safe deposit and support cashier accountability/key control, including operating in the Store Manager’s absence
Technical Overview
The technical scope is operational: execute inventory controls (damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, facility controls), follow prescribed ordering for in-stock targets, support store opening/closing routines, and assist with financial integrity controls (safe deposits, cashier accountability, key control).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an emerging retail leader who can support the Store Manager by handling merchandising, inventory management, and day-to-day compliance activities. They are comfortable assisting with recruiting and staffing, executing prescribed ordering for in-stock targets, preparing inventories, supporting safe deposits, and stepping in to operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
