Structural fabricator team member responsible for fit up, tacking, and welding of structural assemblies for American Buildings in Illinois. The role emphasizes safe operation of fabrication tools, adherence to weld standards, and maintenance of documentation and work area cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform various fit up, tacking, and welding operations on structural assemblies.
- Weld and follow all weld standards and procedures.
- Use clamps, jigs, tape, square, arc air gouger, cutting torch and plasma using procedures.
- Operate overhead cranes and maintain work area cleanliness.
- Maintain required records and inspect/detect/report defects or unusual conditions.
Technical Overview
Perform structural welding per prints using clamps, jigs, tape, and square; use arc air gouger, cutting torch, and plasma as required. Operate overhead cranes and inspect/report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions while maintaining quality standards.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a fabrication professional with at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment who can perform structural fit up, tacking, and welding while following weld standards and procedures. They are AWS welding and Canadian certification-ready (must pass) and can read tape measure/square and blueprint readings, operate overhead cranes, and work safely on 10-12 hour shifts.
