Substation Control Standards Engineer/Sr. Designer responsible for designing substation protection and control standards using AutoCAD Electrical and Vault Professional, and for transmitting standard packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Design substation protection standards; transmit drawing packages; provide guidance on Southern Company standards; maintain control standards drawings; coordinate with departments and vendors
Technical Overview
Duties include advanced microprocessor-based protective relays; AutoCAD Electrical/Vault; TEAMS/MAXIMO/SCST Vault integration; JIRA usage; 25% travel; on-site at The Energy Center.
Ideal Candidate
Senior electrical design engineer with 5+ years in substation design and standards; proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, and MAXIMO; strong communication and ability to coordinate across departments and vendors.
Must-Have Skills
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years' relevant design experienceBachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology with 5 years' relevant design experienceAssociate degree with 8 years' relevant design experienceNo Degree with 10 years' relevant design or utility experienceProficiency using Microsoft Office productsExperience using Autodesk Suite (AutoCAD Electrical) or higherSubstation protective relay testing experienceUnderstanding of substation protection & control scheme operationAbility to create Substation Control Design drawings from a single line wiring diagramExperience in Transmission &/or Distribution Substation Operations
