Systems Engineer

This is a long-term contract Systems Engineer position focused on designing, implementing, and managing complex IT systems in Hartford, Connecticut with remote work mode. You will administer identity and access (Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy), manage Windows Server, and support virtualization and Microsoft 365 security/productivity tools. You will also build disaster recovery capabilities and optimize performance and costs using Azure monitoring.

• Design, configure, and maintain Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Group Policy
• Manage Windows Server environments including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Implement and support virtualization solutions using VMware and Citrix
• Administer 365 Enterprise applications including Exchange, Intune, and Defender
• Use PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code, monitor with Azure Monitor, and execute disaster recovery plans

The technical stack spans Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware, and Citrix virtualization. It includes Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Intune, Defender) plus automation and configuration management using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code. Monitoring and optimization are done with Azure Monitor, along with disaster recovery plan execution and root cause analysis to drive long-term fixes.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Systems Engineer comfortable designing and operating complex IT systems across on-prem and cloud environments. They have strong experience with Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server administration, plus virtualization support using VMware and Citrix. They can administer Microsoft 365 components (Exchange, Intune, Defender) and use PowerShell with Infrastructure as Code while monitoring and optimizing performance with Azure Monitor.
