About this role
This role installs, configures, customizes, and maintains IBM mainframe system and ISV software products in support of business-critical applications on IBM z/OS. The analyst ensures system stability, performance, and security by applying maintenance, executing IPLs, analyzing dumps, and supporting after-hours maintenance and on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS and ISV software products
- Perform SMP/E installation, upgrades, and maintenance using PTFs and APARs
- Customize system parameters, libraries, and subsystems
- Apply maintenance and execute system IPL planning and execution
- Troubleshoot system issues, analyze dumps, and resolve software-related problems
Technical Overview
You will manage IBM z/OS systems including SMP/E-based ISV installs/upgrades, apply PTFs and APARs, and plan/execute system IPLs. Work includes JCL and TSO/ISPF support, troubleshooting via dump analysis and problem determination, and storage management using DASD, SMS, and DFSMS.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mainframe systems analyst with 5+ years of IBM mainframe system programming experience and strong IBM z/OS internals knowledge. They are proficient with SMP/E software installation and maintenance, JCL, and TSO/ISPF, and they can perform system IPL planning/execution and dump analysis while maintaining stable, secure mainframe environments.
